Jimmy Wales the founder of Wikipedia speech at this years TEDx conference focused on the three big failures he had before starting Wikipedia. Wales started off building a service connecting lunchers with area restaurants which failed. Then Wales started a search engine company which was taken over by Chinese hackers. His next venture was a free online encyclopedia where he spent $250,000 for writers to make 12 articles, which then failed. Finally, Wales had the idea that became Wikipedia. Wales has some great theories of failure: If a project is doomed, shut it down quickly. Don’t tie your ego to any one project. Real entrepreneurs fail but enjoy themselves along the way. Handling these things means you will succeed.
